Break the rules of rational thinking. Create literary graffiti with child-like art, visualization and imagination games. Using the magic of metaphor, transform an animal as the most painful aspect of a character into a rescued beast - vibrant and alive.

Inspired by Drew Hayden Taylor’s Chasing Painted Horses, this workshop takes a deep dive into character development and loosely uses the mechanics of plot to propel the character forward in its own poem, story or memoir.

Francophone African-Canadian Immigrants in the minorized Francophone community | Les Immigrants Afro-Canadiens Francophone au sein de la communauté Francophone minoritaire

The lived experience of Francophone Canadian immigrants who come from Sub-Saharan Africa is that they rarely benefit from the symbolic capital of speaking French. Instead, they encounter triple marginalization due to living in a minorized francophone community, because of their race, and by virtue of their French language accent. This talk explores the discriminations they face in the labour market in the GTA as well as the employment experience of these immigrants in the francophone health care and francophone education systems.
