Home Alone Program

Designed by the Canadian Safety Council, this program helps prepare 9 -11 year olds for being home alone during short periods of time.  Participants will learn basic first aid and safety procedures, as well as to recognize hazards, and when and how to use 911.

 Offered in partnership with St. John's Ambulance.

Paws 4 Stories

Paws 4 Stories is an awesome program for beginning and struggling readers who like dogs!  It’s an exciting opportunity to read aloud to a dog and make a friend!

Dogs and their owners are trained and generously provided by St. John Ambulance Therapy Dog Program.

Many children find that reading aloud to a trained dog is much less stressful than reading to an adult, which helps encourage them and enjoy reading!

THE CULINARY TRAVELLER: Cookbook Launch

Join us as we unveil The Culinary Traveller Cookbook featuring mouth - watering dishes from different countries!

Once a month APL and the YRFN host a hands-on cooking class where we create delicious, but easy to prepare recipes from around the world. Participants are asked to bring a recipe from their country of origin for all to help prepare. One recipe from each session will be featured in a cookbook celebrating all of the wonderful dishes created.

Paws 4 Stories

Paws 4 Stories is an awesome program for beginning and struggling readers who like dogs!  It’s an exciting opportunity to read aloud to a dog and make a friend!

Dogs and their owners are trained and generously provided by St. John Ambulance Therapy Dog Program.

Many children find that reading aloud to a trained dog is much less stressful than reading to an adult, which helps encourage them and enjoy reading!
